Life Story
Abhimanyu was son of third Pandava – Arjun and Lord Shree Krishna’s Sister – Subhadra. He was raised at his mother’s home as Pandavas along with Draupadi were exiled for thirteen years. On return of Arjun from exile, Abhimanyu was married to Uttara – princess of Matsya Kingdom.
During the Kurukshetra War, Abhimanyu fought for the Pandavas. On the thirteenth day of the war, the Kaurava warriors came together and formed the Chakravyuha – a seven step circular war trap. As Arjun was the only one with complete knowledge of how to break this trap, Kauravas enticed him on another battlefield. Later, the young Abhimanyu who had knowledge to break six out of seven steps, decides to break through the circle.
When he entered circle, Jayadrath prevented the others from following him through the breach, and Abhimanyu found himself facing the Kaurava warriors all by himself. Even so, he proved too great an archer to be faced by any one warrior, and thus, while he was trying to break through last step of trap, he was attacked by multiple warriors simultaneously, and died young.
